Panda Stop By #03: Spring Court

May 2, 2010

On this day I decided I would buy a new pair of shoes. After checking out some shops in Bondi Junction I came out wearing a new pair of white skate hi vans. Later I met up with Kelvin and he said I had to at least go with him to the Spring Court shoe store and try on a pair of their similar looking shoes. I agreed and figured trying on a pair wouldn’t do any harm.

I had never heard of Spring Court and if you haven’t either I suggest you read a little about them.

“Spring Court is a vintage French shoe that has been made by the same family since 1936. Originally designed as a tennis shoe it features the unique four hole ventilation system and a very robust removable inner sole. The attention to quality is what sets Spring Court apart from other shoe manufacturers. The canvas shoes are made with an Egyptian cotton and is machine washable”

This piece was done by Ed Woodley, and Australian artist. Apparently I bear a resemblance which might possibly mean we’re related in some way or another.

I needed a classic durable black shoe that was stylish and comfortable. These fit the bill.

Me wearing them.

After Kane told me they dropped the price from $185 to $125 I was sold. Super comfortable, high quality, classic shoes. Took off my new Vans and walked out the store in the Spring Courts a happy customer. Big thanks to Kane for showing me around.

There shop is located at 13a Commonwealth St, Surry Hills NSW. You can also order online here www.springcourt.com.au

Oh and if you swing by there tell them you saw this blog entry.

Panda Stop By #01: AS Colour Sydney

May 2, 2010

“Stop by” is a new little series on this blog that will document my stops into friend’s stores, labels, or anything else I check out while on my travels.

The first comes after meeting Zeb Aitken from AS Colour at the Hit + Run event in Sydney. AS Colour provided the 300 blank tee shirts for the Melbourne and Sydney events. Turns out their warehouse was a quick 10 minute walk from where I was staying. A stop by for the next day was definitely in order.

AS has an in-house re-labeling service. Pretty sweet.

Outside with a fresh new white organic tee and a bag full of goodies.

Big thanks to Zeb and the AS Colour crew for showing me around and hooking it up. Congrats to them on their huge success in such little time. If you’re looking for hi-quality blanks for any reason I recommend going and checking out the showroom yourself. You can also find them online at www.ascolour.com.au

Ben Folds Makes Chatroulette cool.

April 23, 2010

I’ve been hearing people talk about chatroulette.com for awhile now but I’ve never tried it. After watching this video I logged on, saw 4 dicks, and that was enough to know that chatroulette is not for me. People actually get off on wacking it to someone random on the internet? Weird.
Anyways Ben Folds rocks for this video…

Banksy’s Exit Through The Gift Shop (Exclusive 5 min Extended Sneak Peek)

April 13, 2010

Wow. This film looks amazing. I can’t wait to see it…

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the first film by renowned graffiti artist Banksy, became the hottest ticket at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival where it made its world debut. Banksy is a graffiti artist with a global reputation whose work can be seen on walls from post—hurricane New Orleans to the separation barrier on the Palestinian West Bank. Fiercely guarding his anonymity to avoid prosecution, Banksy has so far resisted all attempts to be captured on film. Exit Through the Gift Shop tells the incredible true story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on its owner with spectacular results. The film contains exclusive footage of Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader and many of the worlds most infamous graffiti artists at work, on walls and in interview. As Banksy describes it, Its basically the story of how one man set out to film the un—filmable. And failed

PANDA GRUBS #034: Beach Burrito Company in Bondi Beach

April 12, 2010

On this day I was planning on checking out the acclaimed Bondi North Italian with my fellow Los Angelian friend Theresa. When we showed up for lunch we were met by a sign saying it was only open for lunch on the weekend. Ok fine how does mexican sound? Great? Great. Beach Burrito Company it is…

So many choices

Started with the Plato De Mexicana Con Tequila.

2 tequila shots

Plato De Mexicana Con Tequila

Mexican rice, black beans, lettuce, cabbage, salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, jalapeno and corn chirps topped with lime juice and chilli salt served with Mexico’s famous tequila.

Beach Burrito Co Tacos

Corn (gluten free) tacos served soft (Traditional) filled with the came combinations as our burritos.

Lime Chilli Garlic Prawn, Tempura Fish, and Chilli Con Carne

BBC Margaritas on the Rocks

Apparently these were “off the menu”. They were very apprehensive about making them. I guess it’s easy to mess up margarita mix, ice, and tequila. They came out strong…which is good…very good.

cheers

Cheers.

Theresa Taco

Theresa likes the tacos.

Beach Burito Co Fish Taco

So do I.

View from Beach Burrito Company

This was the view of Bondi Beach.

They thought we ordered too much food. Ha. We sure showed them!

BBC frozen Margaritas

The frozen margaritas were on point.

aftermath

Yeah, they were that good.

Bondi Beach Burrito Company

It was dark by the time we left. All in all I give the food a 7/10 and the drinks an 8/10. My one major gripe was the guacamole. If you’re running an authentic mexican restaurant make homemade guacamole!!!
